The Story Dogs program is available to all primary schools – both state and private – and is free to all participating students.
A school generally comes on board when a volunteer comes to us wanting to go to a school near them. If a school requests a dog team, we advertise either in the school newsletter or in that community. However, we do need a Co-ordinator in an area before a dog team can work in that area.

School Information Pack
.
We ask schools to have a fundraising day each year in order to fund the program.
‘Pats not Hugs’ is what we expect from students and staff, thus reducing the stress on our dogs. A happy dog is a safe dog.

This is a note we received from a Principal with the program in her school:
"Story dogs is one of the best decision as a school we could have made to support our children.
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication
Kindest Regards"

Teachers love us. Merryl Toop was a teacher at Tweed Heads South Public School for many years and was very involved with the program. She said, “Your program is soooo valuable, I love it and am happy to be a part of it.”
Phil Hesse, the principal at St Simon the Apostle Primary School in Rowville, VIC, sent us this note:
“We are re-commencing the program tomorrow and I cannot stress enough how successful the program has been.
The program has been a wonderful initiative with the children WANTING to read to Samson.”
